TEFL Training Center
 |
Close to the Old Town Square and near the river Vltava, the Prague TEFL training center is located right in the historic city center. The spacious school has seven classrooms, three staff rooms, and six computers with Internet access. Also available for TEFL trainee use are a printer, copy machine, VCR, vending machine, and office supplies. |
|
|
The training center is conveniently situated near a variety of amenities as well as public transportation. There is a grocery store across the street, a post office next door, a pharmacy on the same block, and a variety of restaurants in the vicinity. The subway and tram stop "Staromestska" is also close by, making it easy to explore via the city's extensive public transportation system.
Prague, Czech Republic
Prague, a fantastically historic and charmingly old-world city, is racing to catch up with its more modern European neighbors. Mega-malls, car dealerships, and trendy clubs spring up almost daily against a backdrop of medieval castles, gothic cathedrals, and winding cobblestone streets. Because of its impressive and varied architectural beauty—left largely undamaged by World War II—the city itself has been called an open-air museum.
The seat of the national government, Prague is also the capital of Bohemia, a title that has as much significance socially as geographically. As a TEFL trainee or teacher in this city of over a million people, you’ll experience a youthful nightlife that hums seven days a week, a vibrant artists’ community, and many romantic wanderers in search of the country's magic, or at least some of its famous beer. And one of Prague's most appealing draws? Its low-cost living, which makes it accessible to almost everyone.
Teaching English in the Czech Republic
 |
 |
The Czech Republic lived under communism for almost
half a century, but has been growing in leaps and bounds
in the two decades since it became a free market economy.
Unemployment is down, tourism is up, and in 2004 the
country was accepted as a member of the European Union.
As the country modernizes, its demand for English teachers
increases. Students in the Czech Republic are usually
adults learning English for professional reasons, or
children and teenagers studying the language as a required
part of their education. In any case,
you'll likely find your Czech students respectful and
quite motivated to learn English.
Most teaching positions in the Czech Republic are found in the lively capital of Prague, though public transportation makes it easy to explore the distinct regions of the rest of the country. With the low cost of living in the Czech Republic, you can usually live comfortably on a typical TEFL teacher's salary. For those wanting to supplement their income, taking on extra hours or teaching private students is a viable (and often lucrative) option.

| “[This school] is an excellent choice to obtain your TEFL
certificate, and Prague is an equally excellent location.
The training course, along with its trainers and entire
staff made me glad to have selected [this program]. The
trainers are terrific at their jobs. They helped make the
course both fun and challenging.” |

| “It is a big step to move from a country as far away as
Australia to begin a new career in Eastern Europe, but
they helped me every step of the way, so instead of
feeling scared and overwhelmed on arrival in Prague,
I felt supported and excited. [The school’s] promises of
assistance with housing, visas, job search, etc. are true.
I thoroughly recommend this course to anyone interested
in TEFL, whether a new university graduate, older retiree,
or teacher wishing to upgrade or refresh skills.”

“I
teach in a small language school here in Prague
where I teach eager students who are excited to
have a native English speaking teacher.
I also teach kids twice a week and feel this to
be the most rewarding job I have ever had.
Teaching English is exciting, gratifying,
interesting, and fun.
Living in Prague means I get to travel on the
weekends for very cheap. Since I have
moved here, I have traveled to Vienna, Budapest,
Paris, Madrid, Seville, Munich, Amsterdam,
Bratislava, and Warsaw. The independence, confidence
and insight I have gained has been tremendous.
The best thing I have ever done for myself
has been my adventurous move to the Czech Republic.”
